Zenless Zone Zero is turning one year old. HoYoverse is marking the anniversary with Version 2.0, and it’s loaded with gifts, new content, and fresh ways to play. For fans of New Eridu, this is not just another update. It feels like a full festival.
The biggest news? Polychromes. Tons of them. Free players will get a mountain of pulls, and even more if they buy passes. Alongside that come new Agents, a new map, and even a big console release.
I’ve been following the leaks and early details, and I can say this: Version 2.0 will pull me back in full-time. If you ever wanted to feel rich in Polychromes without swiping your card, this is your chance.

“Zenless Zone Zero Version 2.0 is more than just a patch—it’s a full-scale celebration, fusing fan service, free rewards, and a bold leap forward in gameplay design.”
A Rain of Polychromes
Zenless Zone Zero Version 2.0 is handing out 21,530 Polychromes to free players. That’s about 135 pulls. It’s rare to see a HoYoverse title give this much at once.
If you hold an Inter-Knot Membership, your number jumps to 25,490. The Premium Battle Pass adds 780 more, plus 4 Encrypted Master Tapes. On top of this, the update also throws in 26 Encrypted Master Tapes and 18 Master Tapes.
That’s a lot of tickets to try your luck. You can use them to chase the new Agents: Yixuan, Ju Fufu, and Pan Yinhu. If you’ve been waiting for re-runs, Astra Yao and Caesar banners will also be live.
As a free-to-play player myself, I can’t stop grinning. This is the kind of currency boost that makes every login feel rewarding.
Waifei Peninsula Opens
The new map is called the Waifei Peninsula. It’s a district with a Chinese look, full of hills, temples, and winding streets. Leaks say you’ll find areas where you can fight in the open, not locked inside small battle zones.
That’s a big change. Genshin Impact players know the thrill of open exploration. Bringing a slice of that into ZZZ makes sense. Rumors even point to a mahjong mini-game, which would be a fun touch.
I’m most excited about walking into Suibian Temple and Lemnian Hollow. Places like these will make New Eridu feel less like a series of combat arenas and more like a living city.
Anniversary Gifts
Anniversaries are when HoYoverse shows love. Version 2.0 is packed with free rewards.
Players will get a free S-Rank Agent and a free S-Rank W-Engine. Two login events hand out 10 Encrypted Master Tapes each. A Boopon login event adds up to 30 free pulls.
This is similar to what Honkai: Star Rail did for its first anniversary. And I’m glad ZZZ is not holding back. It means every player, even new ones, has a chance to grab high-tier units right away.
New Faces and Fresh Styles
Version 2.0 adds three new characters. Yixuan and Ju Fufu are S-Rank units. Pan Yinhu is A-Rank but will still make a strong pick for many teams.
Leaks suggest Yixuan will bring a new Attribute and Specialty. If true, that could shift the way team builds work. Ju Fufu, on the other hand, is drawing hype for style alone.
New skins are also part of the patch. Yixuan and the Proxies get outfits that let you show off more than just combat skills. Costumes have always been fan favorites, and I expect to see them everywhere in screenshots and streams.
To help the new heroes shine, two Drive Disc sets are being added. “Cloud Mist Like Me” is built for DPS units. “Mountain King” boosts stun teams. Both sets should open more creative builds.
Xbox Joins the Party
For the first time, Zenless Zone Zero is landing on Xbox. On June 6, 2025, the game will be live on Series X/S. That’s huge.
This step means more players get to see New Eridu, not just PC and mobile users. It also makes ZZZ one of the few HoYoverse titles on consoles beyond PlayStation.
The map system is also getting a revamp. The old slider is gone. A new topographic map will show places like Sixth Street and Lumina Square with more detail. Fast travel will be smoother too.
As someone who spends too much time fumbling through the slider, I welcome this.
Why Zenless Zone Zero’s Version 2.0 Matters
Zenless Zone Zero launched in July 2024. It hit 50 million downloads fast and even got a nod at The Game Awards. Version 2.0 feels like the next big step in its story.
The free rewards will keep casual fans hooked. The Waifei Peninsula will give explorers something new. The Xbox launch will grow the community. And the pile of Polychromes will make everyone happy, from gacha whales to strict free players.
I’m not saying this game is perfect. The grind can still feel heavy, and the combat loop has its limits. But this patch makes it hard to walk away. HoYoverse is giving us reasons to log in daily, and they’re good ones.
Final Thoughts
Zenless Zone Zero Version 2.0 isn’t just another patch. It feels like HoYoverse throwing a grand party for its players.
The sheer number of free pulls is insane. The new map brings a fresh way to play. And the console release will keep the game growing.
If you’ve drifted away from ZZZ, now is the time to come back. If you’ve never tried it, Version 2.0 is the best start you’ll get.
I’ll be there on day one, chasing Yixuan with my free Polychromes. See you in the Hollows.
